Thank you for your interest in Fractor and the opportunity to reach out to action oriented news-readers. Fractor is a simple but groundbreaking web application that aggregates news and nonprofit needs side by side. Combining 'Facts' (daily news stories) and 'Acts' (news related needs of non-profit/humanitarian organizations) on a single, intuitive page, Fractor will provide users with a new level of news interactivity. As they follow their favorite news stories and issues, users will clearly see how they can make a positive impact in their local communities and across the globe. In the Fractor interface, every news story is linked to real-world actions that a user can take. Search results on an unfolding news story about a natural disaster, for example, might be paired with humanitarian 'Acts' such as sending blankets, canned food and medical volunteers to the disaster zone. Similarly, stories about the crisis in Darfur might be paired with 'Acts' highlighting political action, educational opportunities and fundraising needs.

At the end of September, we will launch the first test of our website here in Philadelphia and we would welcome the opportunity to partner with your organization. While your participation will certainly help us, Fractor will also provide unique benefits to your organization.

By partnering with Fractor and posting Acts on our site, your organization can find volunteers, raise funds, gain information and increase your membership. The online Act form takes only a few minutes to complete and will be immediately and automatically linked to relevant news items. Perhaps you need a volunteer to create a web site or help build a room or canvas a neighborhood. Perhaps you need books sent to a local school. Perhaps you have an online petition you need signed. All these actions and more can be easily posted and added to your organization's list of Acts. Post as many times and as often as you like; indeed, the more you post, the higher your organization's ranking in the Fractor system! As your organization's needs evolve and shift, you can revise and expand your list of Acts to ensure you receive the most relevant assistance.

As you enter our registration page, please excuse the disheveled look of the site at the moment. You are joining us at as we build the framework of our house. This is an exciting time and by joining us now you can influence how the Fractor website works and looks. By the time we open the site up to students in the Philadelphia area in late September, the site will have quite a different and much more polished look.

This said, the act of registering your nonprofit and posting an act is simple and easy.

Go to our registration page. Don't worry. This is us as we build the site. Go ahead and register your NP, filling out all the black spaces in the form as you scroll down. Once you hit submit, an email with a summary of your information will be sent to you and you will be automatically logged in.

Before you get started make sure you have the name, EIN and address of your NP. The short registration form asks for this information as well as giving you the opportunity to tell the world about what your organization does, has done and hopes to do.

You will be asked to pick a user name and password. More than one user can post actions for the same nonprofit so this will be your unique id at the Fractor website.

Once you have filled out this short form, hit the submit button and you will be directed to the act-posting page. You can return to this page anytime by logging in and clicking on "create an act" or "post a new act" buttons.

This is where you can realize Fractor's unique benefit to your organization. By posting acts, you can find volunteers, raise funds, get information and increase your membership. The act form takes just a few minutes to post and will immediately begin to be linked to relevant news items in the daily news. Post as many times and as often as you like; The more you post, the higher your rankings in the Fractor system. Perhaps you need a volunteer to create a web site or help build a room or canvas a neighborhood. Perhaps you need books sent to a needy school. Perhaps you have an online petition you need signed. All these actions and more can be easily posted and added to your NPs list actions. You will be able to revise these actions as we complete the development of the site.

There are only two options that might be potentially confusing in the act post form. "Act post length" refers to the length of time you want the act to remain on the Fractor site. The shorter the duration of this value, the higher the act is prioritized. The "Act length" refers to the amount of time you think the act will take to complete. For example, signing a petition: short, reading weekly at a nursing home for 6 months: long. These values are rough estimates and we trust you to gauge how long and how difficult actions are likely to be.

There are places in both the NP registration form and the Act post form for you to upload photos (up to 2mb). If you have digital photos, we highly recommend uploading them to the Fractor site. Users will be drawn to the images that speak so strongly about what you do and more likely to get involved in your needs.

Upon submitting your act, you will receive an confirmation email and your act will be added to our database of actions that will go live with the commensement of our alpha test in late September.

During our September test, we will be working closely with volunteers from local high schools, universities and community groups. These members will actively use our website as a source for daily Facts and their related Acts. Over the test's two-week period, they will be encouraged to log on to the Fractor site, find stories that interest them and complete the related Acts from partner organizations. As acts are completed, we will provide places to upload stories and photos providing additional exposure and proof of the value of participating nonprofits. Our hope is to prove that this simple tool can inspire, galvanize and connect people through social activism and community service.

If you have any questions or would like any additional information, please do not hesitate to email us. We look forward to seeing your Acts and learning more about your organizations on our site, in your communities and from our users.
